Tastings & Events

Experience Japanese Culture of Enjoyment.

Sake and Japanese whisky are more than exceptional drinks – behind them are regions, craftsmanship, history and a unique culture of enjoyment.

We create individual sake and whisky tastings and support companies, hotels, event organisers and private groups in planning and carrying out their events.

From selecting the products and preparing tasting materials to accompanying the event on site, we develop a format that suits the occasion, the guests and the desired scope.

01 – Planning & Execution

Every tasting is different.

Whether it is a small private gathering, a corporate event or a larger occasion, we work with you to develop a format that suits the event, the guests and the desired scope.

We can support the entire planning and execution process or take care of selected aspects: from choosing the sake or whiskies and planning quantities, serving temperatures and glassware to preparing tasting materials and accompanying the event on site.

Selection & Concept

The starting point is the question: What should the tasting communicate, and who will be taking part?

Depending on the occasion, we put together a selection that presents different styles while still following a clear and easy-to-understand theme. We take factors such as the number of guests, their prior knowledge, the duration, the budget and the desired focus into account.

A sake tasting can, for example, compare different quality grades, rice varieties, regions or brewing styles. For whisky, the focus might be on distilleries, regions, cask types or different whisky styles.

Preparation & Process

A good tasting begins long before the first glass is poured.

We support you with quantity planning, the order of the products, suitable serving temperatures and the selection of glasses or sake cups. If desired, suitable dishes or small food pairings can also be included in the planning.

Together, we also define how long the tasting should last and how much background information about the products, production methods and Japanese culture of enjoyment should be included.

Tasting Materials

For us, a tasting is about more than just what is in the glass.

Depending on the event, we can prepare individually tailored tasting notes, product information, brewery profiles, maps or short explanations of production methods and raw materials.

Multilingual materials are also possible – for example in German, English, Japanese or Chinese.

On-Site Execution

If desired, we can also personally accompany the tasting on site.

We guide guests through the selected products and explain the stories behind them in an accessible way: from rice, kōji and brewing methods to regions, breweries and distilleries.

Depending on the event, this can take the form of a guided tasting, an open tasting station or part of a larger event.

This is how many individual decisions come together to create a tasting that is not only well organised, but also brings Japan closer to the guests in a special way.

Or, a little more matter-of-fact:

The result is a tasting that suits the occasion in terms of content, organisation and flavour.

For your page, I prefer the first version because it is a little more emotional and creates a nice transition into Chapter 02.

02 – Sake, Whisky & Individual Formats

Japan can be discovered in many different ways.

A tasting can focus entirely on one theme or bring together different aspects of Japanese food and drink culture. We tailor the content, depth and selection to the guests and the occasion.

Sake Tastings

Discover Sake

Sake is remarkably diverse – ranging from light and fresh to complex, aromatic and rich in umami.

Depending on the occasion, we can compare different sake styles or focus on themes such as Junmai, Ginjo and Daiginjo, rice varieties, regions, brewing methods, serving temperatures or food pairing.

It is not only about the flavour in the glass, but also about the stories behind rice, water, kōji, breweries and the brewing process.

Whisky Tastings

Discover Japanese Whisky

Japanese whisky combines international whisky tradition with its own distinctive development and style.

A tasting can compare different distilleries, regions, whisky styles, cask types and maturation methods. It can also focus on themes such as Single Malt, Blended Whisky, Grain Whisky or Mizunara oak.

The result is a tasting that combines enjoyment with background knowledge about production, distilleries and the development of Japanese whisky.

Individual Formats

More than a classic tasting

Not every event has to follow a fixed format. Sake and whisky can be combined with each other or complemented by other aspects of Japanese food and drink culture.

Possible formats include Sake & Food Pairing, Sake & Whisky, regional themes, comparisons of different breweries or distilleries, open tasting stations or individually developed Japan-themed concepts.

Together, we create a format that suits the occasion, the guests and the desired level of depth.

More Choice than in Our Online Shop

For our tastings, we are not limited exclusively to our current online shop selection. Depending on the theme, availability and lead time, we can source additional sake and Japanese whiskies through our partners and create a selection specifically for each event.

Whether it is a first introduction to sake, an in-depth whisky tasting or an individual Japan-themed concept, what matters most is that the format suits the people and the occasion.

03 – Events We Support

For small groups and large events.

Our tastings can be adapted to a wide range of occasions, group sizes and levels of prior knowledge. Whether it is a focused tasting in a small group or an open tasting station at a larger event, we work with you to develop a format that suits the setting.

On-site tastings are available in Germany and Austria – other locations on request.

  • Corporate Events

    Discover Together

A sake or whisky tasting is a special addition to corporate events, team events or internal celebrations.

Depending on your preference, the tasting can be informative, relaxed or focused more strongly on enjoying the experience together.

  • Customer Events

    An Experience to Remember

For customer events, a Japanese tasting can create a distinctive highlight while also offering space for conversation and shared discovery.

The content, selection and presentation can be adapted to the occasion and the guests.

  • Hotels & Gastronomy

Japanese Culture of Enjoyment for Your Guests

We support hotels, restaurants and hospitality businesses with sake or whisky tastings, themed evenings and special events.

We can assist with both product selection and preparation as well as the execution of the event itself.

  • Private Tastings

Experience Japan in a Small Group

An individual tasting can also be created for birthdays, private celebrations or simply a special evening with friends.

The content and level of depth can be tailored precisely to the interests of the group.

  • Trade Fairs & Larger Events

Open Tasting Instead of a Classic Seated Format

At larger events, not every guest needs to be seated at the table at the same time.

Open tasting stations, short tasting sessions or modular formats are also possible – just like at our sake tasting for nearly 200 guests at the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera.

  • Japan & Cultural Events

More than Just What Is in the Glass

Sake and whisky can be integrated wonderfully into events centred around Japan, culture, cuisine or travel.

Alongside the tasting itself, we can also share background information about regions, production methods, breweries and Japanese culture of enjoyment.

From a small private tasting to an event with many guests: what matters is not the size, but a format that suits the occasion and the people.

04 – Reference: Sofitel Frankfurt Opera

A Real-World Example. At the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera, we had the opportunity to prepare and support a sake tasting for nearly 200 guests. From selecting the sake and creating individual tasting materials to accompanying the event on site, we developed a format that gave even guests with no prior knowledge an accessible introduction to the world of sake.

05 – Request a Tasting

Tell us briefly what you are planning. The more we know about your event, the better we can prepare a suitable tasting. On-site tastings are available in Germany and Austria – other locations on request.
