Sakurao Single Malt – Japanese Whisky from Hiroshima

Four cask types, delicate smoky notes and the distinctive character of Hiroshima.

Sakurao Single Malt comes from the Sakurao Distillery in Hiroshima Prefecture, whose roots date back to 1918. The distillery is located in Hatsukaichi between the Seto Inland Sea and the mountains of the Chugoku region, combining a long tradition of distilling with modern Japanese whisky production.

The whisky is bottled at 43% vol., with no added colouring and without chill filtration.

Type: Single Malt Whisky

Aroma: Fruity and elegant with raisins, ripe oranges and peach. Delicate sweet and slightly woody notes emerge in the background.

Taste: Complex and well balanced. Sweet vanilla meets fruity accents, subtle acidity and a pleasantly restrained bitterness.

Finish: Long and harmonious with delicate smoky and cask notes, accompanied by a deep, lingering sweetness.

Colour: Dark amber.

Maturation: Matured for more than three years in a combination of bourbon casks, new American oak casks and sherry casks, followed by further maturation in Mizunara oak casks.
